Indications

Sealing of pits and fissures of posterior teeth with complex anatomy, in patients with high cariogenic activity and in newly erupted teeth.

Step by Step

  • Cheek occlusal contacts, noticing whether there are zones of acclusal interference in the pit and fissure region.
  • Isolate the tooth preferably with absolute isolation, or efficient relative isolation. Perform prophylaxis to clean the surface, using cups or brushes.
  • Apply Condac 37 (FGM) Phosphoric acid conditioner for 30 seconds, wash thoroughly and dry the surface.
  • The etch enamal will have a whitish opaque appearance and should be left free from fluid contamination. if the area is contaminated, repeat the isolation maneuver (if necessary )   and acid etching.
  • Adapt the application tip to the Prevent syringe and apply the resin throughout the pits and fissures area, avoiding areas of occlusal interference.
  • Light cure the product for 20 seconds*. *Light cure time defined considering a blue light photopolymerizing device with a power density above 400 mW/cm2. Equipment with lower power requires longer exposure time. There is no risk of overexposure.
  • Recheck the occlusion.
  • Care for maintaining treatment: it is essential that after the application of Prevent the patient is included in a preventive program with control of hygiene and diet, and that the integrity of the sealant is checked periodically. If there is a deficiency, the diagnosis of caries must be reassessed before sealing again.
