Description
Opus Bulk Fill Flow APS FGM is a flowable bulk-fill composite resin designed for efficient restorative procedures in modern dentistry. This light-curing material provides excellent cavity adaptation while allowing clinicians to place thicker increments compared with conventional flowable composites.
Moreover, the composite features self-leveling behavior, which allows the material to spread evenly across cavity surfaces. As a result, it adapts closely to preparation walls and reduces the risk of void formation. This property helps dentists achieve better marginal adaptation during restorative procedures.
In addition, the material demonstrates smart thixotropy, which means it flows when applied yet remains stable once positioned. Consequently, dentists can place the composite easily even in upper posterior teeth without unwanted material slumping.
Another key advantage involves its high filler content of approximately 68% by mass. Because of this composition, the material offers sufficient mechanical strength for use as a base beneath conventional composite restorations. However, clinicians should cover it with a higher-viscosity restorative composite to withstand occlusal forces.
Furthermore, the material provides greater stability under ambient light, which allows clinicians to work comfortably without premature polymerization. Therefore, dentists gain additional working time to control placement and ensure precise application.
The composite also supports bulk insertion up to 4 mm increments, which significantly improves clinical efficiency. By placing thicker layers, dentists reduce the number of increments required during restoration procedures. As a result, treatment time decreases while maintaining reliable curing performance.
Finally, the material remains compatible with all adhesive systems and methacrylate-based composites, making it easy to integrate into existing restorative protocols.

Clinical Applications
Dentists commonly use this flowable bulk composite in several restorative procedures.
• Base for posterior restorations (Class I and Class II)
• Liner beneath direct restorative materials
• Regularization and smoothing of cavity preparation walls
• Repair of minor enamel defects

Opus Bulk Fill Flow Application Steps
-
Prepare the cavity and maintain proper isolation to keep the tooth free from contaminants.
-
Apply phosphoric acid and dental adhesive according to the protocol of the selected bonding system.
-
Dispense the composite into the cavity in increments up to 4 mm. Start from the deeper portion of the preparation while keeping the applicator tip close to the material surface.
-
Avoid immersing the applicator tip into the composite during placement to prevent air entrapment.
-
Light cure each increment for 20 seconds according to the curing light manufacturer’s instructions.
-
Leave approximately 2 mm of space toward the occlusal surface for a final layer of conventional composite or sculptable bulk-fill composite.
-
Apply the final restorative layer and cure according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
-
Finally check occlusal contacts and complete finishing and polishing using appropriate discs, burs, or polishing systems.
